Council of Architecture, the apex body responsible for regulating the standards of Architecture education and profession in India has decided to change the eligibility criteria for admission to B.Arch programme.

New criteria

No candidate shall be admitted to architecture course unless she/he has passed an examination at the end of 10+2 scheme of examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate at the 10+2 level examination

What is the change ?

As of now, it is not necessary to have studied Physics and Chemistry. Only Mathematics is mandatory at 10+2 level. Which means that students with any subjects in 10+2 can join B.Arch if they have studies Mathematics in 10+2.

When does this change become effective ?

The above change will becomes effective from 2019-20 batch.

Which students does it impact ?

It will be applicable for students who will clear Class 12 from 2019 or later. It has no implications for the students who are currently in Class 12 (appearing for Class 12 board exams in 2018).
